In response to recent rumors that Samsung and Blackberry were negotiating an acquisition agreement, and that the acquisition amount was said to be as high as US$75 billion, Blackberry later denied it.
Reuters reported that Samsung had made another acquisition proposal to Blackberry, potentially for as much as $75 billion, with the company targeting Blackberry's patents. However, Blackberry denied the rumors, stating that it has no plans to sell itself to other manufacturers.
Since Samsung is currently actively investing in enterprise information security and service applications such as Knox, acquiring Blackberry's patents is expected to further expand its business. Although such rumors continue to circulate in the market, Blackberry is currently maintaining its existing development plan, using its patents to regain its original support market and seeking additional profit opportunities through a low-price marketing strategy.
However, as Blackberry continued to deny that it would be acquired by Samsung, its share price subsequently fell 16.47%, which seemed to reflect that investors preferred that Blackberry be acquired by other manufacturers to generate greater profits.
