Combined with the new version of the Bixby digital assistant service, it allows users to conduct more complex interactions using natural language, or perform a series of home appliance-linked operations and connected services.
According to Samsung's imagination, the kitchen is also a place where every family often gathers and communicates, and the refrigerator is an appliance that every family member must use. Therefore, the Family Hub refrigerator, which was launched two years ago, has a set of functions outside the refrigerator door that can cooperate with the camera to display the food stored inside. It even integrates common S Pen functions in the past, such as handwriting touch, note-taking and message leaving, and can even use various services through third-party apps, so that the refrigerator can have more diverse applications.
With the subsequent addition of the Bixby digital assistant service, the Family Hub refrigerator will be able to interact more with people through voice control. Users can also operate refrigerator functions in a more natural way through spoken language, or interact with other connected home appliances through network connection.
At this year's CES 2019 event, Samsung announced an updated Family Hub user interface and further enhanced Bixby digital assistant service models, allowing users to interact with Bixby through simpler spoken language and complete more complex commands. According to Samsung, Bixby will gain a deeper understanding of user intent, enabling it to accurately execute user requests and even integrate with other home appliances and services.
Compared to LG, which has added more human-computer interaction functions to its home appliances, even allowing the appliances to automatically determine the user's current needs or proactively provide appropriate suggestions based on different situations, Samsung is also preparing to make its home appliances easier to understand user needs, thereby making home appliances smarter.
However, the current improvements in interactivity are primarily focused on languages like English. Interactivity in other languages, such as Chinese, may take some time to improve. Furthermore, according to Samsung, the new Family Hub features will also be available on older Family Hub models, maintaining the same user experience across all home appliances.
