BBC Studios, which boasts a rich library of British television series, nature documentaries, reality shows, and children's programming, announced today (August 8) an exclusive partnership with Taiwan Mobile's video platform service, MyVideo. The partnership will see the launch of BBC Player, its flagship streaming video platform, in Taiwan, bringing its branded content, including CBeebies, BBC Lifestyle, and BBC Brit, to the Taiwanese market.
Compared to its previous partnership model with cable broadband services, BBC Studios has recently continued to expand its streaming video services. Taiwan is the fourth new market for BBC Player, following Singapore, Malaysia, and India. Through on-demand playback, users can play content at their own preferred time and using their preferred device. Furthermore, BBC Studios emphasizes the ability to legally provide services in the Taiwanese market through local cooperation with Taiwan Mobile.
Currently, BBC Player provides content, which will be officially launched through the "BBC Player" special library in MyVideo, and will provide BBC Earth, BBC Lifestyle, BBC Brit, BBC First, BBC Kids and CBeebies, including famous content such as "Frozen Planet II", "Inspector Luther", "Gordon Ramsay's MasterChef", "Mr. Bean", "Bree the Dog", "Teletubbies" and so on. The total playback time of the content currently provided by the service has accumulated to more than 3000 hours.
The content provided by BBC Player will be incorporated into MyVideo's deluxe monthly subscription plan. From now until August 8, those who subscribe to the 31-day plan can subscribe for NT$180 (new users only), which is almost half of the original subscription price of NT$777, and can watch most of the audio and video content on the shelves (excluding one-time payments and digital collection content).
