At the 2025 New York Summit, AWS announced a series of new initiatives focused on agent-based AI. These included the official launch of the Amazon Bedrock AgentCore platform, the addition of new AI agents and tools to the AWS Marketplace, and an additional $1 million investment in its Generative AI Innovation Center to comprehensively strengthen enterprises' ability to deploy AI agents.
Amazon Bedrock AgentCore is an integrated platform designed to help enterprises quickly and securely transition AI agent services from proof-of-concept to scalable, real-world applications. It comprises seven core modules: the Runtime execution environment, which supports long-running tasks; Memory; Identity; Gateway for integrating external tools; an advanced Code Interpreter; Browser Tool; and Observability, an observability management interface.
These features enable enterprises to build AI agent service architectures that can operate on multiple frameworks and models in a flexible and efficient manner.
AWS has also added an "AI Agents and Tools" category to its Marketplace platform, allowing businesses to quickly search and deploy AI agent solutions from third-party vendors through familiar channels, accelerating the transition from experimentation to production. AWS emphasizes that these new services meet enterprise-grade security and governance standards.
To strengthen industry collaboration and innovation, AWS announced an additional $1 million investment in its Generative AI Innovation Center. The center has already helped companies like Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe, BMW, and Syngenta implement AI agent services to optimize internal operational processes. This investment will be used to expand its team of AI experts, accelerate the scale of collaborative projects, and foster cross-industry AI innovation.
In addition, AWS also launched a series of new tools and services, including "Kiro", an IDE tool that helps developers collaborate with AI agents to develop programs, Amazon S3 Vectors that supports native vector storage and query, MCP protocol local server and knowledge base for enhanced model and context integration, and Strands 1.0 open source tools that enable multiple AI agents to work together.
AWS's significant investment in Agentic AI signals a shift in the focus of generative AI development from model evolution to agent-based architectures that offer greater application flexibility and commercial value. Through these new tools and partnerships, AWS clearly aims to help global enterprises accelerate their journey to a new stage of large-scale AI adoption.
