Audi earlierconfirm, will enter the 2026 F1 season as a power component supplier and assist the FIA (International Automobile Federation) in achievingAchieving carbon neutral event development goals by 2030.
According to the description, Audi will use a new hybrid engine developed at its R&D center in Neuburg for the competition. This engine will meet FIA requirements for sustainable hybrid fuels and will be designed in a V6 format. It will be equipped with a 400kW electric motor, which can output 554 horsepower.
In further explanation, Audi said that the new engine was designed by Adam Baker, who previously served as safety director of the FIA and also worked at BMW and Cosworth. He will serve as CEO of an independent subsidiary of Audi Sport, which is currently a subsidiary of Audi specializing in the development and manufacture of high-performance cars.
Audi is expected to announce its partner team as early as the end of this year, but many fans believe that since Audi will acquire a majority stake in the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team, this engine will definitely be used in the Sauber team's models.
