Last year, ASUS launched a small size, high performance, and focus on shooting experience.Zenfone 9Later this year, the Zenfone 10 was launched again with the same design concept, and further upgrades were made to the performance and shooting experience, while the body remained compact and suitable for one-handed operation.
The main features of Zenfone 10 are almost a continuation of the compact body and more advanced shooting experience of Zenfone 9 launched last year, and further enhanced various functions.
The body size remains at 5.9 inches, using a Samsung AMOLED display panel design, supporting a 144Hz screen refresh rate, and weighing 172 grams. The design language is the same as Zenfone 9, and it is available in five colors: Midnight Black, Dawn Green, Starry Blue, Comet White, and Eclipse Red, and has a newly designed ASUS brand logo.
The multi-function power button on the right, called ZenTouch, has been upgraded to version 2.0. It can be activated by single-press, long-press, double-press, or swipe gestures, enabling various functions such as opening the notification bar, quickly launching the camera, swiping to the top or bottom of a page, or quickly turning on the phone's fill light. It also adds the ability to fast-forward or rewind YouTube videos. A quick press of the volume "-" button also quickly launches the camera even when the screen is locked.
As for the Edge Tool 2.0 operating interface corresponding to one-handed operation, it allows users to quickly operate commonly used functions of the mobile phone, or set frequently used apps, allowing users to quickly use various functions or services of the mobile phone.
In terms of hardware specifications, the Zenfone 10 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage capacity. The battery capacity is 4300mAh, supporting 30W hybrid architecture charging and 15W wireless charging specifications, which can extend the power usage time by about 12.9% compared to the previous generation model.
For sound output, it adopts a front dual speaker design, supports Dirac sound technology, and retains a 3.5mm headphone jack. It is also compatible with Qualcomm aptX Adative and aptX Adative Lossless, as well as Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless, further enhancing the bass output performance.
The main camera features a Sony IMX766 sensor with a 5000-megapixel resolution, a 1/1.56-inch sensor, and an f/1.9 aperture. It also features a wide-angle lens with a 6-axis Hybrid Handheld Stabilization System 2.0 design, paired with a 1300-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with a 120-degree field of view. The video camera utilizes a 3200-megapixel RGBW sensor design with a 1.4μm pixel sensitive area, allowing it to capture higher light levels at 800 megapixels, resulting in better color rendering for selfie images.
The camera features advanced handheld stabilization, artificial intelligence scene recognition, and RAW file processing for clearer shooting results. It also supports portrait mode and light trail shooting effects, and can even be used with a tripod to shoot long-exposure star trail images.
The new version of Zen UI has been updated with features such as the ability to always display customized screen content, transfer apps used on the previous phone while copying data, and support for long-screen screenshots.
The mobile search function now integrates multimodal artificial intelligence and natural language understanding to achieve more accurate search results, especially when searching for photo content. Other updates include improved animation smoothness, enhanced gaming performance, and extended phone usage time through automatic or scheduled power saving features. Furthermore, it can also be used with stable charging to preserve battery life.
ASUS also stated that Zenfone 10 will be able to support at least 2 years of major version upgrades of the Android operating system and at least 4 years of system security updates.
In terms of design and box contents, ASUS also touts the Zenfone 10 as a 100% environmentally friendly design, including the use of fully recyclable box materials and the absence of any adhesives, making recycling easier. The original box still includes a USB-C cable and a 30W charger, as well as a card eject pin, a simple instruction manual, and a dedicated protective case for the phone.
Accessories designed for the Zenfone 10 also include the Connex case, which can be modularly installed with card holders, phone stands, and other functional accessories. Exclusive cases have also been developed in collaboration with RhinoShield and DevilCase. However, due to slight design differences, the Zenfone 10 cannot directly use the Zenfone 9's protective cases, but screen protectors can be shared.
