Based on Intel's 2019 presentationDual-screen reference design codenamed Twin RiverAt CES 2024, ASUS announced the new 8406 Zenbook DUO model UX2024. The laptop is composed of two 14-inch touch screens and uses an Intel Core Ultra processor.

ASUS previously showcased its dual-screen concept laptop, Project PRECOG, in 2018. In 2019, ASUS released the Zenbook Pro 15, featuring a ScreenPad design that combined a touchpad with a display, each with its own dedicated controls. In 2020, ASUS introduced the Zenbook DUO, which featured a second screen, the ScreenPad Plus, placed above the keyboard, expanding its possibilities.

Although the subsequent foldable laptop Zenbook 17 Fold OLED maintains a single screen, it can also support a dual-screen display interface through its foldable mechanism, thereby corresponding to multi-tasking and diverse usage modes, thus highlighting ASUS's ideas in dual-screen interface design and application.

As for the 2024 Zenbook DUO launched this time, it is directly composed of two sets of 3-inch touch OLED screens with 120K resolution, supporting 16Hz screen refresh rate and 10:14 display ratio design, and is equipped with a detachable keyboard accessory, and a stand design is added to the back of the 90% recycled magnesium-aluminum alloy body, allowing this laptop to support a variety of usage experiences, including general laptop mode, display mode, desktop mode, book mode, and even dual-screen usage mode that allows the laptop to stand up.

It weighs only 1.35 kg and is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, up to 32GB of memory, and a storage capacity of up to 1TB. It is Intel EVO certified and has complete I/O ports, fast wake-up, long battery life, and can be used at any time. The two 14-inch screens use Lumina OLED display panel technology, which corresponds to vivid color display and eye protection. The battery capacity is 75Wh.

The built-in stand can support angles of 40 to 70 degrees, and the included laptop case can provide a 12-degree support angle, allowing users to operate the laptop more comfortably in normal usage, or write or draw with a stylus. The laptop itself can also be unfolded at 180 degrees to cope with different usage scenarios.

▲Because it uses two sets of screens, if the keyboard accessories are added, the overall thickness will become more obvious.

The physical keyboard is connected to the laptop via magnetic connections, but it can also operate through a built-in battery and connect to the laptop via Bluetooth.

In addition, ASUS has also designed different operating gestures to meet the needs of dual-screen usage. For example, a six-finger swipe can quickly call up the virtual keyboard, or a two-finger swipe can switch between handwriting, numeric keypad, control panel and shortcut keys. A three-finger swipe can call up a virtual operation interface similar to ScreenPad Plus above the virtual keyboard to correspond to different operating functions. In addition, you can directly tap the window with your finger and drag it to the other screen for use.

ASUS also provides the App Switcher for quickly switching between application windows, and the ScreenXpert shortcut bar for adjusting screen brightness on the go. It also includes Task Groups for opening customized window collections with one click, and software functions such as sharing the screen with others through sharing mode.
