Bloomberg News reporter Mark GurmanRefers to,appleA self-made wireless chip codenamed "Proxima"In addition to possible applications in the next Apple TV or HomePod products, it is more likely to become a device that can share wireless network connection resources.
There have been many rumors that Apple plans to build its own network chips to replace the network chips it originally cooperated with Broadcom, allowing Apple to have greater independent design of the network connection functions of its products, while also reducing Apple's licensing costs to Broadcom.
Although Apple will not re-create its previously launched AirPort series of network routers by building its own network chip, it may further enhance the application functions of HomePod and Apple TV connected products, such as adding more smart home application services, or directly using them as network extension devices, allowing users to further expand the range of home wireless network connections.
The new chip may also be used in the rumored new device that combines a display screen and HomePod functions, serving as a control center for connecting new home devices. It can also be operated and interacted through the screen, or display information such as the current time, date, and temperature.
On the other hand, self-made wireless chips may also allow Apple to make related application devices have greater wireless network connection application flexibility, such as serving as a home wireless network sharer, or allowing network devices to extend the connection distance.
