Apple announced earlier that its Apple Intelligence technology-powered..."Live Translation" featureAfter a brief delay, it will finally be officially rolled out to AirPods users in the EU in December.
This expansion has garnered significant attention not only because "instant translation" is one of the key selling points of the recently released AirPods Pro 3, but also because Apple warned in September that additional engineering work might be required to comply with the EU Digital Markets Act (DMA), potentially delaying the rollout of this feature in the EU.
The announcement that the AirPods will be available in the EU in December means that Apple has resolved the relevant issues, allowing the "instant translation" function to be successfully provided to users in the EU.
Supports AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 ANC, and supports mutual translation between 10 languages.
When this feature officially launches in the EU next month, supported hardware includes AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2, and AirPods 4 (active noise cancellation).
The "Instant Translation" feature will automatically translate the speaker's voice, supporting the following languages:
• English (American, British)
• French (France)
• German
• Portuguese (Brazil)
• Spanish (Spain)
• Italian
• Chinese (Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese)
Japanese
• Korean language
Apple emphasizes that the instant translation feature works seamlessly between two pairs of AirPods, intelligently reducing the speaker's original volume to make the translated audio easier to hear.
iOS 26.2 Beta is now available for developer testing in the European Union.
For EU users who want to experience the feature before the official release in December, Apple says that as long as their iPhone supports Apple Intelligence and they have upgraded to the developer beta of iOS 26.2, or a beta version later available to general users, they can enable the "Instant Translation" feature on supported AirPods.
