Apple first announced the Apple Watch Series 8 at its fall conference, and once again emphasized that Apple Watch has become the best-selling smartwatch in the past seven years, and it also helps more people detect irregular heart rhythms in time and call for help in emergencies.
In the Apple Watch Series 8 unveiled this time, Apple has confirmed that temperature sensors have been added to the bottom of the watch body and the screen end to determine changes in ambient temperature and the difference in the wearer's body temperature before and after, and then determine whether the user's physical condition is abnormal. In addition, it can also track menstrual periods more accurately with the female health function. It can detect the temperature at a frequency of every 5 seconds at night, thereby determining temperature changes with an accuracy of up to 0.1 degrees Celsius.
In terms of safety protection design, a vehicle collision detection function has been added this time. Through the built-in 3-axis gyroscope and dynamic sensing element of Apple Watch, it can detect impact forces exceeding 4g from the front, rear or side at 256 times the speed, and cooperate with the microphone to recognize environmental sounds to determine whether the user has been in a car accident. Then, within 10 seconds, the user can confirm whether they are safe by tapping the screen. Otherwise, an emergency call will be automatically made, and the coordinates of the accident location will be sent, and the emergency contacts set by the user will be notified.
To address battery life requirements, Apple has added a low-power mode to Apple Watch Series 4 and later models, extending battery life to 36 hours while disabling more power-intensive features like the always-on display. Regarding connectivity, the Apple Watch Series 8 finally adds international roaming, allowing the watch to connect to the internet and communicate across different countries, just like a phone.
Apple Watch Series 8 also has stainless steel and aluminum alloy models. The stainless steel model is available in three colors: silver, black and gold, while the aluminum alloy model is available in four colors: silver, black, gold and red. It is expected to be available for pre-order from now on and will be officially launched on September 9. The suggested retail price of the GPS version is US$16, and the GPS+Cellular model is US$399.
In addition, Apple also launched the new Nike version of Apple Watch Series 8 and the Hermès version of Apple Watch Series 8, and simultaneously launched new watch strap accessories, which will also be officially launched on September 9.
