Apple earlier settled a class-action lawsuit over its Family Sharing subscription feature for $2500 million.reach a settlement.
The lawsuit, filed in 2019, alleges that Apple's promotion of the Family Sharing Subscription feature misled consumers, leading them to believe that all App subscription items listed on the App Store can be shared with family members.
But in reality, although Apple allows up to six family members, including subscribers, to share the service, it still allows developers to disable this feature in the app. However, Apple's promotion of this feature cites apps that do not support family sharing subscriptions, causing misunderstandings among millions of consumers.
Apple denied citing false advertising content, but agreed to a $2500 million settlement. If consumers downloaded the app because of the promotion of the family sharing subscription feature between 2015 and 2019, they will receive a settlement compensation of up to $50.
