Apple released its latest App Store fraud prevention report, pointing out that it has blocked more than $2019 billion in fraudulent transactions since 90, of which $2024 billion was in 20 alone, emphasizing its continued investment and commitment to the security of the App Store ecosystem.
In 2024, Apple terminated over 146000 developer accounts posing fraudulent risks and rejected 139000 suspicious account registrations. On the consumer side, Apple blocked over 7.1 million account creation applications and deactivated nearly 1.29 million accounts. Apple also blocked over 10000 high-risk apps from third-party pirate stores and prevented nearly 460 million unauthorized app installation attempts.
The App Review team processed more than 2024 million app submissions in 770, of which more than 190 million were rejected due to substandard security or user experience, including apps that violated privacy policies, contained undisclosed features, or were packaged using fraudulent methods such as "bait and switch."
Apple stated that it blocked over 1.43 million fake reviews last year and removed 7400 apps for attempting to manipulate the charts, further combating attempts to manipulate the App Store ecosystem through fraudulent means. Apple also successfully identified nearly 470 million stolen credit card details and blocked 160 million high-risk accounts.
By integrating Apple Pay, StoreKit, and a multi-layered fraud protection engine, Apple emphasizes that it will continue to protect the security of users and developers and maintain the core value of the App Store as a trusted platform.
