Lisa Jackson, Apple's vice president of environment, policy and social initiatives, at the recent Reuters NEXT eventRepresentation, Apple will notAchieving carbon reduction targetsThe relevant costs are passed on to its products.
Prior to this, Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 9 at its fall conference this year, which touted the goal of achieving zero carbon emissions. Even the Apple Watch Ultra 2 can achieve zero carbon emissions by replacing it with the newly launched strap accessories. Some protective case accessories are also made of environmentally friendly materials, and the original styles made of natural leather are abandoned.
According to Lisa Jackson, Apple's CEO Tim Cook made the decision internally not to pass on the cost of zero carbon emissions to product prices. Instead, Apple hopes to work with its supply chain to introduce clean energy and recycled materials, thereby reducing costs in the product manufacturing process and allowing consumers to purchase at more reasonable prices.
Apple hopes to expand its cooperation with the supply chain and small and medium-sized enterprises. It also hopes to expand the trend of recycled materials and clean energy applications and attract more brands to join this trend.
