Bloomberg News reported that Apple may cooperate with Sony to enable Vision Pro to use PlayStation VR2's Sense handheld controller, allowing Vision Pro to respond to a more realistic two-handed control experience.
Although Vision Pro currently supports mid-air gesture interaction, it still lacks the actual feel of the operation for some tasks that require more delicate control. Therefore, if it can be combined with the button-pressing operation of the PlayStation VR2 Sense handheld controller, the user's operation during the virtual visual interaction process may be more "solid", rather than just waving hands in the air.
According to Bloomberg News, Apple began collaborating with Sony at the beginning of this year, and Sony has been conducting research and development for several months. Apple has begun requiring third-party companies to add support for PlayStation VR2's Sense handheld controller operations to their game content.
However, since Sony is still selling the Sense handheld controller bundled with the PlayStation VR2 and has not yet opened up a separate sales option, and there are still some technical issues to overcome in connecting the Vision Pro and the Sense handheld controller, it will not be allowed to use the Sense handheld controller with the Vision Pro too soon for the time being.
On the other hand, Sony also seems to be preparing to use the opportunity of cooperation with Apple to add hand recognition and tracking function to PlayStation VR2, perhaps allowing users to directly operate it with their hands.
