According to the portfolio page of AI Fund, a Palo Alto-based venture capital firm, WhyLabs, which it invested in during its Series A funding round in 2021, has now been acquired. Related news also alleges that WhyLabs has been acquired by Apple, but the specific acquisition amount was not disclosed.
WhyLabs primarily provides real-time monitoring to ensure the security of generative AI applications. Following its acquisition by Apple, the company may further integrate its technology into its "Apple Intelligence" service to prevent AI from engaging in "out-of-bounds" behavior.
WhyLabs CEO Alessya Visnjic previously worked at Amazon for eight years, primarily responsible for machine learning infrastructure projects. He later co-founded WhyLabs with Andy Dang and Sam Gracie, also former Amazon employees. Another co-founder, Maria Karaivanova, was a senior executive at Cloudflare.
