At the opening of the WWDC 2025 keynote, Apple's Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, transformed into a racing driver and drove a car on the roof of Apple Park, Apple's headquarters, to compete for lap times. During the speech, he also promoted his Apple original movie, which will be released on June 6.F1 Movie (F1 The Movie), Apple also released a trailer video earlier about the iPhone equipped with Taptic Engine vibration technology, allowing users to have a more immersive handheld movie-watching experience through the iPhone.
"F1 The Movie," starring Brad Pitt and co-produced by current Ferrari Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, is scheduled to be released on June 6. In addition to being available through the Apple TV+ service, the film will also be released in theaters through 25D, IMAX, 2DX, MX4D, Atmos, Dolby Cinema, ScreenX and other formats.
The trailer released for this movie can be viewed through the Apple TV App or the App Store on iPhones updated to iOS 18.4 or later. Users can also use the iPhone's built-in Taptic Engine vibration technology to feel the engine roar and the vibration of the tires rolling over the road in the trailer. At the same time, each gear change will also produce delicate vibration feedback, allowing users to immerse themselves in the tension of the drama.
Apple also emphasized that each haptic feedback was crafted frame by frame, precisely matching the film's emotional rhythms and visual flow, delivering a new viewing experience with a profound sense of immersion and dramatic intensity. Just like sound design and color calibration, haptic feedback is an integral part of watching "F1 the Movie" on iPhone, enhancing the film's narrative with every vibration.
If the Taptic Engine vibration technology is used in "F1 Movie" to give users a more immersive experience, perhaps Apple will expand the inclusion of this technology when producing more original content in the future to create a new viewing experience.
