Apple earlier released the official update content of iOS 17.2, allowing all users to more convenientlyLog AppRecord your daily life. In addition, Apple also releasedNew Apple TV App, and allows iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to shootSpace Video.
New logging app driven by machine learning
The Log app was first announced during WWDC 2023 this year. It mainly uses machine learning calculations to record users' photos, videos, locations, health conditions, etc., and presents every detail of daily life through notes. At the same time, it will also connect to more third-party apps through the Suggestions API provided to developers this time to record more users' personal life events.
Through machine learning, users will be able to more easily record places they've visited, photos they've taken, songs they've listened to, and workouts they've completed, making it easier for them to document their lives and reflect on past experiences. Furthermore, all log app content is encrypted and can even be locked with a device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID.
As for "Day One", it will be one of the third-party log apps that connects to Apple's Suggestions API, thereby integrating the functions of Apple's log app, making it easier to record user operations through the iPhone in the log service.
Apple TV App with a brand new interface design
In this update, Apple also updated the Apple TV App, allowing users to use the new Apple TV App interface on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, or Android TV, TV boxes, and game consoles including Sony, and more intuitively use the Apple TV+ subscription service, watch Major League Soccer, and rent or purchase movies personally.
In addition, the new sidebar navigation can also provide recommendations for user-preferred content, allowing users to select suitable programs through "New Shows and Movies", "Rankings", "Trending" and "For You". Personal profile switching functions will also be provided for devices such as Apple TV.
Starting today, the iTunes Store app on iPhone and iPad, as well as the iTunes Movies and iTunes TV Shows apps on Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD, will begin redirecting users to the new Apple TV app, allowing users to find existing purchases and watch all their favorite TV shows and movies on the same service.
iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max now have the ability to shoot spatial video
The previously introduced feature of shooting spatial videos on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max has now been added to the official iOS 17.2 update. Users can turn on the spatial video shooting feature in "Settings" and capture moments in 15D stereoscopic video through the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 3 Pro Max camera systems.
Once enabled, simply switch to video shooting mode in the Camera app, hold your iPhone in landscape orientation, and tap the Spatial Video icon to record with the main camera's wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle lenses. By scaling the ultra-wide-angle lens's shooting range to the same as the wide-angle lens', 3D stereoscopic vision is achieved.
The spatial video will be shot in 30p format at 1080 frames per second in standard dynamic range and compressed using HEVC. The size of one minute of spatial video is approximately 130MB.
However, space video content can only be played in 3D stereoscopic form on Vision Pro, which will be officially launched early next year. It will only be presented in 2D flat form on devices such as iPhone. It can be shared and viewed through apps such as Messages like other videos. It will be stored in the photo album named "Space" in the Photo App and can also be synchronized and backed up through the iCloud service.
