Relevant news indicates that Apple will require authorized accessory manufacturers to produce iPhone series protective cases in accordance with new standards and specifications with better protection effects, ensuring that the body and screen will not be damaged when dropped vertically from at least 1 meter.
According to9to5Mac website quoted sources as sayingApple recently began requiring authorized accessory manufacturers to meet new standards for iPhone cases, ensuring they offer enhanced protection. These standards require that cases maintain a protective barrier against damage to the iPhone's body and screen even after a one-meter drop. Furthermore, the case must maintain a minimum of 1mm of horizontal clearance from the screen to minimize friction when placed on a table.
On the other hand, the material requirements must also reduce environmental pollution. Materials including formaldehyde (Methanal, which has carcinogenic risks), perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS, which has carcinogenic risks), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE, flame retardant ingredients), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB, also flame retardant ingredients), and phthalates (Phthalates, plasticizers) are not allowed to be used in the production of authorized protective case accessories.
While this makes production more difficult for accessory manufacturers, it helps ensure the quality of Apple-authorized accessories and provides a level of safety for consumers. Accessory manufacturers that obtain MFi (Made for iPhone) certification also receive official Apple technical support and are authorized to use the Apple certification label on their products.
