9to5Mac websiteIn the tvOS 18.2 preview version provided to developers earlier, it was found that Apple seemed to be preparing to adjust the Siri wake-up word recognition function to avoid being triggered by keywords similar to "hey Siri" in TV commercials and playback content.
Many people should have had similar experiences: when watching TV, if they encounter keywords similar to "hey Siri" in the content, they may accidentally trigger the iPhone in their hand or the HomePod placed next to the TV. Although it will not cause much impact, it has indeed caused many people to complain about it.
Therefore, in the tvOS 18.2 preview version provided to developers, Apple seems to plan to use the function of its voice recognition service Shazam. By comparing the audio content received by the device microphone and comparing it with the voiceprint data prepared by Apple in advance, the device can determine whether the detected keywords are made by a real human voice or just the sound of the playing content. If it is the latter, the subsequent triggering action will be directly ignored.
At present, such adjustments seem to have only been found in the preview version of tvOS 18.2, so it is possible that this design will be introduced in the HomePod product first. Considering that devices such as iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch are still closer to users' daily operations, and the proportion of questions asked using Siri is relatively high, relevant adjustments may not be made for the time being. However, it is not ruled out that after HomePod performs well in the test, adjustments may also be made to devices such as iPhone.
