In addition to referring to AppleWill expand the layout of Apple Silicon processor developmentBloomberg News reporter Mark Gurman further reports that the upcoming Apple Watch Series 8 will include a temperature sensor to detect abnormal temperature rises and determine if a user has a fever. Meanwhile, Apple originally planned to include a temperature sensor and heart rate monitoring in the new AirPods Pro, but ultimately scrapped these features for various reasons.
According to Mark Gurman, since body temperature is one of the bases for judging changes in physical condition, the Apple Watch Series 8 expected to be released this year may introduce body temperature sensors to determine whether the user has a fever or whether a woman is pregnant based on body temperature changes, making menstrual period predictions more accurate.
However, Mark Gurman's report only mentioned using changes in body temperature to determine whether there is an abnormal fever. Therefore, it is not yet possible to confirm whether Apple will further apply this function to provide more health-related measurement functions.
However, Mark Gurman further pointed out that the body temperature measurement function will only be available on the standard Apple Watch Series 8, including the new Apple Watch SE and the rumored upcoming rugged version of Apple Watch will not have this function.
On the other hand, the new Apple Watch Series 8 may also be equipped with the power saving mode added with watchOS 9, which may be similar to the function equipped with the iPhone, allowing the Apple Watch Series 8 to have a longer battery life performance.
Related reports also pointed out that the new AirPods Pro expected to be launched this year would also be equipped with body temperature sensors and heart rate measurement functions, but Apple’s internal evaluation results may eventually cancel such designs.
