Related news claimsApple plans to replace its current Broadcom chip with a chip codenamed "Proxima," giving it more control over Wi-Fi and other technologies, thereby enhancing its devices' network connectivity. Meanwhile, Apple appears to have begun work on the next AirPods Pro, which will feature enhanced health apps and potentially even artificial intelligence experiences. There are also plans to add a camera to the product.
Replace the network chips co-developed with Broadcom with self-designed chips
There have been many rumors that Apple plans to build its own network chips to replace the network chips it originally cooperated with Broadcom, allowing Apple to have greater independent design of the network connection functions of its products, while also reducing Apple's licensing costs to Broadcom.
Although Apple will not re-create its previously launched AirPort series of network routers by building its own network chip, it may further enhance the application functions of HomePod and Apple TV connected products, such as adding more smart home application services, or directly using them as network extension devices, allowing users to further expand the range of home wireless network connections.
The new chip may also be used for the rumored combination of display and HomePod functionalityBrand new equipment, which can be used as a new home device connection control center. It can also be operated and interacted through the screen, or display current time, date, temperature and other information.
Even Apple may also use its own network chips to create more smart home application products, including doorbells or door locks that use Face ID to identify identity.
New AirPods Pro
Apple may have already started preparing to create the next AirPods Pro, which may include more health application functions, perhaps temperature sensing or heart rate recording functions. The goal is to allow more users who may choose to use AirPods Pro but may not wear Apple Watch to easily record changes in their personal heart rate and other body data.
Apple may also consider adding a camera feature to AirPods, but not for image capture. It's more likely to use image recognition to identify gestures, create more realistic positioning, or create a virtual soundstage. However, this feature is still in the early stages of design and may not be implemented in AirPods for several years. Temperature and heart rate monitoring may appear even sooner.
