Bloomberg News reporter Mark GurmanThe latest issue of the "Power On" columnApple has two moreiOS 26 operating systemThe function has not yet been made public and is expected to be officially launched in a subsequent update this year.
One of the features is real-time accent translation through AirPods, and the other is automatic synchronization of public Wi-Fi login information between Apple devices. Both features were reported to be in development before the start of WWDC 2025, but were ultimately not mentioned in the keynote speech.
AirPods will have instant voice translation, upgrading the cross-language conversation experience
AirPods' instant translation feature will allow users to have real-time conversations with foreign speakers, receiving translated audio through their AirPods. This feature is suitable for travel, business, or daily communication scenarios. This feature will further integrate with the native translation function of iOS 26 and is expected to become a powerful tool for cross-language conversations for AirPods users.
During the WWDC 2025 held recently, Apple demonstrated the new translation and UI interface design of iOS 26. The instant translation of AirPods may rely on more advanced voice processing and seamless connection technology with the headphones, so it will take some time to adjust. It is expected to be officially released in iOS 26.1 or iOS 26.2, so it may be released in October or December this year.
Synchronize public Wi-Fi login information across devices to improve connectivity
Another feature expected to debut is automatic syncing of Captive Wi-Fi (public Wi-Fi) accounts. Previously, users logging into public Wi-Fi for the first time at places like cafes and restaurants often had to do so individually on each device. With this new feature, users can log in on a single Apple device and then automatically sync their account with all other devices using the same account, significantly streamlining the user experience.
WWDC 2025 development strategy shifts to "immediate delivery"
Mark Gurman further pointed out that Apple's decision not to announce features not yet ready for delivery at WWDC 2025 is based on its experience last year with several features released only to face months of delays. To avoid repeating this mistake, Apple is adopting a strategy this year of announcing features that are confirmed to be "coming soon," and will continue to add more advanced features through system updates.
