MacRumors reported that Apple confirmed that the Apple Store "Apple Infinite Loop", which was officially opened in 1993 and is located outside the Infinite Loop office in Cupertino, California, will close on January 2024, 1.
Because it's located at Apple's early headquarters (from the mid-90s to 2017, after which the headquarters became Apple Park), "Apple Infinite Loop" has become a popular shopping destination for many Apple fans. This Apple Store, which originally operated as "The Company Store," sold special Apple merchandise such as special T-shirts, water bottles, and notebooks, attracting many tourists to shop or take pictures.
After the renovation in 2015, Apple renamed "The Company Store" to "Apple Infinite Loop", and the merchandise displayed inside is more similar to that of a regular Apple Store. Although it continues to sell peripheral products such as Apple's official T-shirts, the items are significantly different from the early days and the quantity is relatively small. However, there are still some peripheral products that can only be purchased in the store, such as kiln-fired mugs in collaboration with Japanese designers, and Apple ballpoint pens.
After the closure of "Apple Infinite Loop", Apple said it will provide consumer shopping services through the Apple Park Visitor Center next to the new headquarters, the "Apple Valley Fair" in the Westfield Valley Shopping Center in Santa Clara, or through Apple's official online website.
In addition to confirming the closure of "Apple Infinite Loop", Apple also confirmed that it will simultaneously close the Apple Store at the Royal Hawaiian Center in Honolulu, Hawaii on January 2024, 1. However, it emphasized that it will continue to expand the Apple Store network in the future. This year, it has opened new direct stores in the United States, China, India, South Korea, and the United Kingdom, and launched online store services in Chile and Vietnam.
As for the Infinite Loop office, it is currently under renovation and is expected to be completed in early 2024. It will continue to be used as an office for Apple employees.
