Following the recent launch that sparked heated discussionsHigh-priced knitted accessories for iPhone PocketFollowing this, Apple announced another collaboration with Los Angeles artist and industrial designer Bailey Hikawa to launch a new product. The MagSafe phone holder called "Hikawa Phone Grip & Stand"It can be magnetically attached to an iPhone (or other phones that support magnetic attachment) and used as a grip or stand accessory.
This MagSafe-enabled accessory combines modern art with practicality. Although it costs $70 (about NT$2200) and is not exactly cheap, it is significantly cheaper than the iPhone Pocket that Apple recently collaborated on with Issey Miyake.
Inspired by modern sculpture, emphasizing barrier-free ergonomics
This accessory boasts a design inspired by "modern sculpture" and is currently available in two color options. Besides its artistic appeal, functionality is also a key focus.
• MagSafe magnetic attachment and two-way stand: It attaches to the back of the iPhone via the MagSafe mechanism, and the official description emphasizes that it is "easily detachable." When used as a stand, it supports both vertical and horizontal viewing angles to meet different usage scenarios.
• Accessibility: Apple states that the ergonomic design of this accessory is "accessibility-oriented from the outset." During the development process, Bailey Hikawa directly referenced feedback from people with disabilities who are affected by muscle strength, dexterity, and hand control, providing a more effortless and stable grip experience.
Artist collaborations command a premium, but are they easier to buy than "cell phone socks"?
Bailey Hikawa is known for creating uniquely styled phone cases (and eye-catching toilet seat designs). While similar universal grip holders typically cost around $10, the artist collaboration and special design naturally drive up the price.
Currently, it will only be sold in the United States.
Unlike the iPhone Pocket, which is sold in markets including the United States, Japan, and Taiwan, the MagSafe phone holder, manufactured by Bailey Hikawa, is currently only sold in the United States.
