Apple earlier confirmed that it has acquired iKinema, a British image visual effects processing technology company, and is expected to use this to strengthen the development of its augmented reality technology applications in the future.
iKinema mainly provides motion capture technology for games or virtual visual application projects. It has currently cooperated with companies such as Microsoft, Disney, 21st Century Fox, and Tencent to enable animated characters to produce more natural movement performances through real-time motion capture.
For example, Hollywood movies such as "Thor 3: Ragnarok" and "Blade Runner 2049" have used iKinema technology.
The rumored acquisition by Apple may be used to strengthen its own augmented reality technology applications, including Animoji application services.
However, Apple did not give a specific response to this, only stating that the company will continue to strengthen its own development through acquisitions, but would not specify the purpose of the acquisition.
