AnnounceProducts including iPhone 11 seriesAfter the listing news, Apple also quietly updatedAppleCare+ Terms of Use, in addition to AirPods and Beats series headphone productsIncluded in AppleCare+ extended warranty plan, and further provides a monthly subscription model.
The current AppleCare+ extended warranty plan extends the original one-year warranty by an additional two years, bringing the total factory warranty to three years, and provides up to two rounds of damage coverage. Under the extended warranty, Apple will provide free repairs for non-human damage, while providing low-cost repair services for up to two rounds of warranty coverage for damage caused by human error.
Taking the AppleCare+ extended warranty plan announced earlier, which covers headphone products, as an example, if users purchase the new AirPods for $159 and pay $29 for an additional two-year product warranty extension, the manufacturer's non-human damage warranty period can be extended to three years. If human damage occurs during this period, such as the headphone itself being broken, up to two times, each time for only $2, can be repaired by the manufacturer, without having to pay high repair fees.
In the earlier updated AppleCare+ terms of use, Apple additionally mentioned that it will add a monthly subscription model to the AppleCare+ extended warranty plan, allowing users to continue using the AppleCare+ extended warranty plan for a small monthly fee, while still retaining the original two-year purchase plan.
However, if the user has already purchased the AppleCare+ extended warranty plan, they will not be able to choose to switch to a monthly subscription model. Currently, the monthly subscription model is only available for newly purchased Apple products, or a one-time purchase of a 2-year extended warranty plan (users can purchase it within 60 days of purchasing a new Apple product).
As for the extended warranty plan subscribed on a monthly basis, users can cancel their subscription at any time, or the plan will be terminated when the corresponding Apple product can no longer be covered by Apple's original warranty.
In the monthly subscription plan, the actual payment will still vary depending on different Apple products. The reason why Apple promotes this usage model is not only to allow users to purchase and use extended warranty plans in a more flexible way, but also to increase users' willingness to purchase AppleCare+ extended warranty plans.
However, this subscription plan is not yet available in Taiwan and is only available in the United States and other regional markets.
