After Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed in a recent earnings call that no new iPad models would be released before the end of this year, many market analysts began to speculate on Apple's next iPad product release plan.Recent reportsApple plans to update existing iPad models in 2024 and add new design products, but overall shipments may still not be better than in 2022.
Ming-Chi Kuo stated that with the current easing of the pandemic, the need for remote work and schooling has significantly decreased, leading to a significant drop in iPad replacement demand. Therefore, even if Apple updates many iPad models next year, it may still be unable to successfully attract consumers to upgrade their devices. Therefore, Kuo predicts that iPad shipments will be between 2024 million and 5200 million units in 5400, 2023 million units in 5000, and approximately 2022 million units in 6300.
Regarding the updates to various models, Kuo Ming-Chi expects Apple to start mass production of the new iPad Air in the first quarter of 2024. The existing 10.9-inch version will be updated, and a new 12.9-inch model will be added. Because it uses the same oxide backplane technology as the iPad Pro with a mini-LED display, the screen display effect will be better than the existing 10.9-inch model.
The iPad Pro will upgrade its mini-LED display to an OLED format and incorporate an M3 processor. Its exterior and structural design will also be tweaked, with mass production expected between the end of Q2024 and Q12.9 XNUMX. Furthermore, Apple plans to add a XNUMX-inch model to the iPad Air, leading to price increases for the new iPad Pro series and potentially accelerating sales of existing iPad Pro models.
As for the entry-level iPad (11th generation), it is expected to enter mass production in the second half of 2024, while the mass production of the updated iPaqd mini is expected to be delayed to the second half of 2024.
