Market analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released a research report earlier stating that Apple will purchase approximately 2000 to 3000 AI servers this year, accounting for approximately 1.3% of global AI server shipments, and the purchase quantity in 2024 will increase to approximately 1.8 to 2 units, accounting for an expected 5% of global AI server shipments.
Kuo also pointed out in the report that compared with other competitors, Apple's resource investment in the development of artificial intelligence technology is significantly lower. For example, Meta expects to purchase approximately 2024 artificial intelligence servers in 4, while the total number of artificial intelligence servers it currently holds far exceeds that of Apple.
If calculated based on the number of AI servers owned, Apple will have to invest billions of dollars each year to catch up with its competitors' AI technology development. Therefore, if Apple only invests $10 billion in AI technology development each year, it will obviously still lag behind in the development of self-generated AI technology.
However, Kuo also suggested that Apple could potentially narrow the gap in AI technology development by focusing on software or by building its own AI server processors. However, this would require Apple to invest additional funds, or it would likely increase overall computing power by purchasing more AI servers.
On the other hand, in the development of its self-generated artificial intelligence technology, Apple is expected to prefer using self-purchased or self-built artificial intelligence servers for training, rather than relying on other public cloud providers to provide computing services, thereby ensuring more complete information privacy and security.
In the previous statementApple is currently increasing its investment in the development of automatically generated artificial intelligence technology, including launching a smarter and more responsive Siri digital assistant service in 2024. It also expects to integrate more artificial intelligence technologies into its services to provide users with a more convenient user experience.
