According to a TrendForce analysis, as QLC NAND memory chips gradually enter the mobile phone market and replace traditional UFS memory chips, Apple may introduce QLC memory chip designs in iPhone models as early as 2026, increasing storage capacity to 2TB.
Currently, Apple uses TLC NAND memory chips in its iPhone models, with a maximum storage capacity of 1TB. As camera pixels increase, most users need more storage space for daily photos and videos. At the same time, as the proportion of digital content usage increases, the demand for device-side storage capacity also increases accordingly. Coupled with the current increase in device-side artificial intelligence application services, the storage capacity of devices must be increased even more.
Therefore, as Apple is about to launch the "Apple Intelligence" service, it seems necessary for future iPhone models to adopt a larger storage capacity design.
In addition to the iPhone, the current Android platform mobile phone lineup also has a trend of increasing storage capacity. The reason is also related to the increase in the proportion of photography, video recording, and digital content usage. In the future, as the demand for artificial intelligence computing on more devices increases, the storage capacity of mobile phones will inevitably continue to increase.
However, as QLC NAND memory chips are gradually used in mobile phone products and storage capacity continues to increase, the price of mobile phone products will inevitably increase in the future.
