In addition to revealing that the RDNA and CDNA display architectures will be merged intoNew UDNAIn an interview with Computer Base, Jack Huynh, AMD's senior vice president and general manager of the Computing and Graphics Business Group, revealed that the company's next processor products for the consumer market will include a product code-named "Krackan Point" and a new processor expected to be called Ryzen Z2 Extreme, which is designed for use in handheld game consoles.
AMD's next consumer processors, in addition to the previously announced entry-level processor "Fire Range" and the "Strix Halo" targeted at high-end models, will also include "Krackan Point," a simplified version of the Ryzen AI 9 300 series processor. The actual name may be Ryzen AI 7 300 or Ryzen AI 5 300 series.
As for the specifications, "Krackan Point" is expected to use 4 sets of Zen 5 architecture-designed CPUs, paired with 4 sets of Zen 5c architecture-designed CPUs. In addition, it will also be equipped with an RDNA 8 display architecture GPU with 3.5 computing units (CUs) and an XDNA 50 architecture NPU with a computing power of up to 2 TOPS.
As for the follow-up products of handheld game console processors, Jack Huynh revealed in an interview with Digital Trends that the Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor will be released at a faster pace. He also revealed that it will significantly increase the usage time of the handheld game console from the current approximately 45 minutes to 3 hours.
Furthermore, there have been recent reports that Sony may leverage AMD processors to enhance the gaming experience through its PlayStation series consoles. Sony may also be using AMD's new processors to create a new handheld game console, perhaps a successor to the PlayStation Portable (PSP) or PlayStation Vita. However, whether this console will utilize the Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, or whether such a product even exists, remains unconfirmed.
