AMD recently announced the Radeon Pro W5500 workstation graphics card, targeting the price-performance market. Built on TSMC's 7nm FinFET process, it's priced at $399 and meets the needs of most 2D and 3D professional design applications. It also consumes approximately 32% less power than competitors (compared to the NVIDIA Quadro P2200). AMD also announced the Radeon Pro W5500M GPU for mobile workstations, optimized for the next generation of high-performance professional mobile workstations.
The Radeon Pro W5500 will target the graphic design needs of most design and manufacturing professionals, as well as architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC). It uses AMD's RDNA architecture, TSMC's 7nm FinFET process, GDDR6 memory, and a high-bandwidth PCI Express 4.0 interface, corresponding to 5.35 TFLOPS (FP32) computing performance and a maximum power consumption of 125W. It also uses 8GB of GDDR6 display memory, corresponding to 224GB/s memory transfer bandwidth and a 128-bit memory interface. Combined with the DisplayPort 1.4 port, it can support four 60K display outputs at a 4Hz frame refresh rate, or support a single 4K display output.
The Radeon Pro W5500M GPU, launched simultaneously for mobile workstations, offers 4.79 TFLOPS (FP32) computing performance, a maximum power consumption of 85W, and 4GB of GDDR6 display memory. It also supports 224GB/s memory transfer bandwidth and a 128-bit memory interface, along with four DisplayPort 4 output ports.
Combined with Radeon Pro Software for Enterprise's intelligent power management technology, the Radeon Pro W5500 graphics card can precisely adjust power consumption to meet the power consumption requirements of various professional applications and comply with OEM platform and ISV certification tests.
The Radeon Pro W5500 graphics card is expected to be available through retail channels in mid-February with a suggested retail price of US$2. The mobile Radeon Pro W399M GPU is expected to be available in professional mobile workstations from various manufacturers this spring.
