In recent years, AMD has continued to expand the application of artificial intelligence technology and has acquired Mipsology, an artificial intelligence technology startup, and Nod.ai, an open source AI software startup, last year.AnnounceAcquired Silo AI, a Finnish artificial intelligence technology provider, for US$6.65 million.
Headquartered in Helsinki, Silo AI primarily provides artificial intelligence technology solutions, helping clients integrate AI into products, services, and operational processes. It also offers the SiloGen artificial intelligence model and has collaborated with AMD to create open-source multi-modal large-scale natural language models such as Poro and Viking.
AMD's transaction will be an all-cash transaction and is expected to be completed in the second half of this year, but it still needs to wait for approval from relevant regulatory authorities. Approximately 300 employees of Silo AI will join the AMD team and use its software tools to build customized large-scale natural language models.
By continuing to acquire artificial intelligence technology and integrating it with its own computing products, AMD expects to be able to promote the development of artificial intelligence technology applications and expand competition with industry players such as NVIDIA.
