Under multiple testAmazon GoAfter that, Amazon seems to plan to further apply the cashless payment method of unmanned stores to larger stores.
wall street journalCiting sources, Amazon plans to further apply the cashierless payment model of its unmanned store Amazon Go to larger retail stores. It is expected that it will be able to handle more commodity transactions and simultaneously identify more in-app consumer pickup details.
The unmanned stores Amazon Go, which Amazon is currently testing, are mostly located in traffic-prone locations and sell items that are easy for users to grab and use, such as simple snacks, handy meals, simple fresh food, magazines, and other products. Before entering the store, consumers only need to keep their phones connected and log in to their Amazon service account. The store's sensor elements, including cameras, will automatically identify which products have been taken from the shelves by consumers. After the consumer leaves the store, if it is determined that the products have not been left in the store, the credit card linked to the consumer's Amazon service account will be automatically deducted.
Amazon apparently hopes to further apply similar applications to larger stores, but it is currently unclear whether they will adopt the same unmanned store scale or be a more convenient checkout model for large retail channels.
However, if Amazon wants to apply the cashless payment method in its unmanned stores to large-scale channel stores, it means that the internal sensing components must be able to simultaneously detect more consumers picking up products in the store. At the same time, the system must also be able to simultaneously identify many details of the in-store products to determine whether the items picked up by the user are in-store products. In addition, it may further test the system's recognition efficiency and accuracy, and also include the internal network bandwidth required to transmit these huge data throughput requirements.
However, Amazon did not respond to this.
However, judging from Amazon's previous goal of developing unmanned stores, reducing sales efficiency in retail channels is indeed one of the key projects. At the same time, for Amazon's future layout of IoT market applications, this type of application model is also expected to face challenges in the future.
