At the Gamescom 2022 pre-show event, Dead Island 2, developed by Dambuster Studios and published by Deep Silver, was confirmed to be coming to the Epic Games Store, Google Stadia, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 2, and Xbox Series X|S platforms on February 3rd of next year. It was also confirmed that it will incorporate the Alexa Game Control function provided by Amazon, allowing players to play the game directly with just their voices.
Amazon saidThe Alexa Game Control function will allow players to operate the game directly through natural language, and without having to use wake-up words such as "Alexa" in advance, they can directly operate game commands through spoken descriptions, such as picking up a bench on the ground or switching weapons in their hands. At the same time, they can also directly interact with NPCs in the game.
The Alexa Game Control feature is designed to understand the player's operating intentions through natural language analysis. In addition to allowing players to interact more intuitively in the game, Amazon also stated that this feature will make it easier for more disabled players to play games, while also creating more possibilities for game interaction.
Initially, this feature only supports English interactions in North America, but Amazon said that it will expand this feature to more countries and support interactions in more languages in the future. In addition to the current corresponding Xbox and Windows PC platforms, support for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch platforms will also be added in the future.
As for "Dead Island 2022", which was announced at the Gamescom 2 pre-show event, it has also become the first game to support the Alexa Game Control function and can be played through natural language operation.
