In fact, the EU has received multiple requests for information from regulators under the Digital Services Act (DSA) since November of last year. Since Amazon has been designated a market "gatekeeper" by the EU, it must provide a certain degree of transparency regarding its services and fulfill its market responsibilities.
Although unlike the Digital Markets Act, which imposes a fine of 10% of the violating business's annual revenue, once a business is found to have violated the Digital Services Act, it will still be ordered to pay a fine of 6% of its annual revenue. Taking Amazon's annual revenue of US$2023 billion in 5748 as an example, it will face a fine of at least US$345 billion.
Amazon must now provide relevant information to EU regulators by July 7. If it fails to convince EU regulators, it may face heavy fines. In response, Amazon emphasized that it continues to create a safe, controlled, and trustworthy online shopping environment.
