Related news claimsAmazon plans to further expand its unmanned store Amazon Go operating model to retail channels such as airports and cinemas, hoping to promote the application of its own unmanned store-related technologies and promote the growth of its retail business scale.
Amazon has currently built a total of 16 Amazon Go unmanned stores in cities including Seattle and San Francisco, allowing users to walk into the store directly through their mobile phones logged into their Amazon service accounts and take items from the shelves at will. Once the user leaves the store and does not put the items back on the shelf, the system will automatically deduct payment from the credit card linked to the account.
Regarding this application model, relevant news indicates that Amazon plans to bring Amazon Go's unmanned store operation model to a wider range of application scenarios. For example, CIBO Express airport stores under the restaurant chain OTG, and Regal Cinemas under the world's second-largest cinema chain Cineworld are both possible targets for Amazon technology promotion. Amazon may also bring its store operation model to consumer scenarios such as baseball stadiums, allowing users to purchase the required products in a faster way and save a lot of time.
Amazon is reportedly planning to expand its cashierless store technology in 2020, with the goal of attracting hundreds of stores by the end of the year. Successful partnerships would allow Amazon to establish smoother collaborations with competitors and boost the growth of its AWS cloud services.
As for cooperation with third-party companies, Amazon may adopt different business models, such as splitting a certain percentage of profits through cooperation, or charging technology licensing fees in advance, and then even providing use in the form of monthly subscriptions.
However, Amazon, OTG and Cineworld have not responded to the rumors yet.
