Wing, Alphabet's drone delivery company, announced earlier that it will cooperate with companies such as FedEx, Walgreens, and Sweet Magnolia to conduct simulated commercial cargo delivery service tests.
Judging from the cooperation with these companies, FedEx is obviously testing the needs of general cargo delivery, while the cooperation with Walgreens may be related to the delivery of medicines or daily necessities. As for the cooperation with Sweet Magnolia, it is expected to test the service project for gift delivery needs.
The test site will be chosen in the small town of Christiansburg in Montgomery County, Virginia, USA. This place happens to be close to Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, which has in-depth cooperation with Wing. Therefore, it is expected that real-time adjustments and corrections can be made to the service test nearby.
In addition to Wing, Uber and Amazon are also developing similar application services, hoping to improve the efficiency of small cargo delivery through small drones, and even apply them to more diverse item delivery needs.
