Wing, a small drone delivery service under Google's parent company Alphabet, recently assisted the Nehesburg Middle School Library in Montgomery County, Virginia, with its lightweight and fast delivery service features.Delivery of physical books.
The idea was actually proposed by Kelly Passek, a library administrator at Blacksburg Township Middle School. Because she orders fresh food through the Wing service, she thought of using this service to allow students who are currently unable to go to the library to borrow books due to the impact of the new coronavirus epidemic to continue borrowing books and studying through this service.
After Kelly Passek made this request to Alphabet, she quickly received assistance from Alphabet. By allowing students to submit a request to borrow books in the form of a Google Form, Kelly Passek can find the corresponding books in the library and deliver them to the students through the Wing service.
This service is currently available free of charge to eligible students. The total weight of each shipment must be under three pounds (approximately 1.4 kilograms). Students can select the books they want to borrow from the library's collection of over 15 titles. They can also return borrowed books to the library through the Wing service.
