With the launch of the new m18 gaming laptop by Dell's Alienware brand, AMD announced that this laptop will be the first to use the new laptop display chip Radeon RX 7900M, which is touted to be able to smoothly handle 3A-level game works and achieve display performance equivalent to that of a desktop computer.
According to the details released by AMD, the Radeon RX 7900M is designed with RDNA 3 display architecture, integrates AMD's second-generation real-time ray tracing technology, and supports AV1 encoding function. It is equipped with 72 CUs and 64MB Infinity Cache. The operating clock can reach 1825MHz, and its performance is approximately between the Radeon RX 7800XT and Radeon 7900 GRE.
The Radeon RX 7900M is also equipped with 16GB of 256-bit GDDR6 display memory to enable more efficient computing with sufficient display data. The overall power consumption is 180W, and it is claimed to be able to provide a stable gaming experience at a resolution of 1440p or above in a laptop environment. It can also meet the needs of creators for video editing, real-time image rendering, etc.
As for the new Alienware m18 gaming laptop, it is an upgrade of the previously launched m17 R5. It adopts an 18-inch screen body design and conforms to the AMD Advantage laptop design. It uses a Ryzen 7945HX processor and a Radeon RX 7900M graphics chip respectively, thereby corresponding to more complete computing performance. At the same time, through the AMD Adrenaline Edition software tool, the laptop performance can be dynamically adjusted through SmartShift technology to adjust the operating power of the processor and graphics chip, thereby achieving a balance between performance and battery life.
Alienware plans to sell this laptop for $2799.99 and will launch it in the United States, Canada and other markets starting today.
