Sonar is available in Standard and Pro versions. Perplexity.ai will start offering the latter to all developers starting today, enabling them to build automatically generated artificial intelligence search services and present appropriate, accurate, and real-time search results based on their needs.
Perplexity.ai said that Sonar is suitable for lightweight and fast online question-and-answer services. It can quickly find appropriate content and provide the most correct answers for specific scopes. Sonar Pro can handle more in-depth, multi-step query results and add more extended content as needed. At the same time, its average number of citations per search is twice that of the standard version. It can also use the contextual coherence feature to handle longer and more detailed search results, or continue to provide more specific answers to previous questions.
Developers in the marketing, finance, nonprofit, and advertising industries are already using Sonar to access resources and enhance the search experience of their existing services. For example, the copywriting tool Copy.ai runs on Sonar, allowing users to save approximately eight hours per week in the copywriting process and increase content output by 8%. Doximity, an online research tool for medical professionals, also uses Sonar to increase diagnostic references and even assist in disease assessment using the latest medical research documents.
In addition, the AI Companion 2.0 function provided by Zoom provides real-time or private search functions by integrating Sonar Pro, allowing users to find information content without having to exit the video call or open an additional browser.
