Related NewsTencent was recently accused ofAllegationsAfter its "Light of Motiram" was clearly plagiarized from the "Horizon" series, the company had earlier removed the game introduction content on the Steam platform that clearly involved infringing elements.
Polaris Quest, the developer of "Wilderness Origin," has adjusted the game's description on Steam, removing words such as "colossal machines" and "Mechanimals" from the original promotional description and replacing them with more neutral terms.
In addition, the character image of "Horizon" protagonist "Aloy" in the originally displayed game screenshots and art images has now been replaced with scene images with no obvious reference objects.
Industry insiders believe that these adjustments show Tencent is trying to reduce the controversy surrounding the plagiarism allegations without publicly admitting its mistakes. However, it is not yet clear whether Sony Interactive Entertainment will withdraw the lawsuit due to these content adjustments.
In its previous complaint against Tencent, Sony Interactive Entertainment alleged that Tencent had proposed collaborating on a new Horizon series title as early as 2024, but was subsequently declined. Just a few months after the failed collaboration, Tencent released Wild Origins, a game with a very similar setting and content, leading Sony Interactive Entertainment to strongly suspect Tencent of deliberately imitating the Horizon series.
