Announced last yearAcquired RED, a professional film camera equipment manufacturerAfter the news of this layout in the professional film market, Nikon earlier launched the RED brandTwo Z CINEMA series professional movie cameras with Nikon Z mount, namely V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount and KOMODO-X Z Mount, and also launched the Nikkor Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ electric zoom lens for movie shooting.
Both cameras use the Nikon Z mount and can natively use lenses that also support the Nikon Z mount, or Nikon F-series lenses via an adapter. They can also use industry-common PL-mount lenses with the "RED Z to PL Adapter Pack" and "RED Z to PL with Electronic ND Adapter Pack." The cameras themselves also support the color technology and image compression technology of the RED series models.
The V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount is compatible with 8K VV global shutter and is positioned as a flagship professional movie camera. It provides high frame rate shooting capabilities through RED Global Vision global shutter technology, and emphasizes low-light shooting performance, as well as dynamic image presentation and high resolution capabilities.
The KOMODO-X Z Mount is equipped with a 6K S35 global shutter sensor, supporting 6K 80p and 4K120p high-speed photography specifications, and the R3D RAW format unique to the RED series. It provides high efficiency and ease of operation, while having a higher editing tolerance rate, allowing for more flexibility in subsequent editing.
Nikon said it will continue to pursue new dimensions in optical performance to meet user needs, and will also strive to expand the possibilities of visual expression.
