Google invested $3 million in Anthropic early last year, followed by a $10 million investment at the end of October, and later announced an additional $5 billion. Prior to this, Google's parent company, Alphabet, had already invested approximately $15 million in Anthropic.
In addition to Google, Amazon has previously invested $40 billion in Anthropic, but the UK Competition and Markets Authority did not determine that this affected market competition. The reason is that Anthropic's turnover in the UK did not exceed 7000 million pounds. In addition, even if Amazon's technology is included, the corresponding market supply share does not reach 25%. Therefore, after passing the initial public review, the UK Competition and Markets Authority did not launch an investigation into Amazon's investment in Anthropic.
As for Microsoft's investment in OpenAI, it is still under investigation by the UK Competition and Markets Authority, but it recently approved Microsoft's investment in artificial intelligence startups Mistral and Inflection.
