In fact, this isn't the first time the Ratchet & Clank series has ventured into mobile platforms. Back in 2005, before smartphones were widespread, the series released a mobile game called Ratchet & Clank: Going Mobile. Then, in 2013, they released an endless runner game called Before the Nexus.
Interestingly, some enthusiastic fans have recently unearthed a sequel to Ratchet & Clank: Clone Home, originally slated for a 2006 release on Java phones. Although the game was cancelled, it was released last month for download after fans found old phones with game files and cracked the encryption.
Sony's decision to license Oh BiBi to develop a new game demonstrates that, in its strategy of promoting the cross-platform development of the PlayStation IP, mobile devices remain an indispensable part in addition to PCs.
