In recent years, LEGO has offered adult fans a variety of options to immerse themselves in nostalgia. In addition to releasing brick sets themed around games like Super Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Minecraft, LEGO continues to provide Generation X, Millennials (and young people interested in retro things) with opportunities to relive classic game consoles. Following the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System), Game Boy, and Atari 2600, LEGO and SEGA recently unveiled the latest addition to this brick console lineup: the Lego SEGA Genesis (Mega Drive).
Compact and exquisite, recreating the classic 16-bit experience.
This set, scheduled for release on June 1st, is the first SEGA console in the LEGO lineup. However, strictly speaking, this isn't LEGO's first SEGA hardware product; they previously released one in conjunction with the Sonic the Hedgehog series.SEGA Genesis Controller game console controller kit, serial number 40769.
• Number and size of building blocks:This set contains 479 building blocks and measures 4.5 inches long and 6 inches wide when assembled, making it perfect for display on a desktop.
• Pricing information:The official suggested retail price is $39.99 / £34.99 / €39.99. Players will be able to purchase it through the LEGO online store or physical retail channels.
• Complete accessories:Although this console doesn't actually have the functionality to play games, the box includes a game cartridge and controller made of building blocks. Players can actually insert the cartridges and connect the controller to enjoy a complete "console experience."
Genesis or Mega Drive? Dual-version customization
Keen-eyed SEGA fans may have noticed that some of the official images show the "Genesis" logo, while others display "Mega Drive".
This is actually a clever design by LEGO to recreate history. This legendary 16-bit console is known as Genesis in the North American market, while it's called Mega Drive in Japan and Europe. Therefore, this brick model comes with different stickers, allowing players to customize it to their desired version. So, if you're from North America but prefer its original name, you can build it exactly to your liking.
