In January of this year, Nothing revealed that it would not release a flagship model, the Nothing Phone 4, in 2026, but would instead focus on the successors to its mid-range product lines, the Nothing Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro. After a period of anticipation, Nothing has officially unveiled its new lineup: the Nothing Phone 4a Pro and the Nothing Phone 4a.
Compared to previous products, these two new models represent a significant shift in both design and specifications.
Nothing Phone 4a Pro: Metal Body and Ultra-Thin Design
The Nothing Phone 4a Pro features the biggest design change yet.
• New design vocabulary:The most significant difference is that it has abandoned the signature transparent back cover design and instead adopted a unibody metal design in black, silver and pink.
• Upgraded lighting effects:The accompanying Glyph Matrix interface is larger and brighter than that of the Nothing Phone 3.
• Body and durability:Hailed by Nothing as the thinnest phone ever, its design is somewhat reminiscent of the iPhone 17 Pro. The change in materials also improves the phone's durability, supports IP65 dust and water resistance, and offers better heat dissipation.
• Top-tier screen:It features a 6.83-inch AMOLED screen, supporting a refresh rate of up to 144Hz and an amazing peak brightness of 5000 nits.
• Camera and performance:It features a 3200-megapixel front-facing camera, a 5000-megapixel wide-angle lens and an ultra-wide-angle lens on the main camera, and a 5000-megapixel periscope telephoto lens that supports 140x zoom (twice the zoom capability of the Nothing Phone 4a). The hardware is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, which is sufficient to smoothly run the AI features expanded in Nothing.
Nothing Phone 4a: A Complete Evolution of Transparent Aesthetics
Despite extensive pre-release hype, the Nothing Phone 4a still delivers many upgrades over its predecessor.
• Continuing the aesthetics of transparency:It retains the transparent design language of the signboard, offers four color options: white, pink, black, and blue, and supports IP64 dust and water resistance.
• New Glyph Bar:The new light strip design not only improves brightness, but also arranges the light strips in a straight line next to the camera module.
• Scratch-resistant screen:It features a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 4500 nits. The screen surface is covered with Gorilla Glass 7i, which is twice as scratch-resistant as its predecessor and is more suitable for placing the phone screen-down.
In terms of hardware specifications, the Nothing Phone 4a also uses the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor and has a battery capacity of 5080mAh.
In terms of system, both phones come pre-installed with the Nothing OS 4.1 operating interface based on Android 16. The system includes Essential Search, which allows users to search for information across applications, personalized search results based on Essential Space "Memories", and the Nothing Playground application, which allows users to create custom widgets using AI. Nothing also promises to provide 3 years of Android system upgrades and 6 years of security update support.
The Nothing Phone 4a Pro will be available with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, with a suggested retail price starting at $499. It will be launched globally (including the US) and is expected to be available for pre-order on March 13.
