After ASUS announced the specific appearance of ROG Phone 2024 at Qualcomm's Snapdragon Tech Summit 9 event in Hawaii and announced that it would be launched in November, the author actually got a real machine on site for some hands-on play.

The ROG Phone 9's overall design is similar to last year's ROG Phone 8, continuing the design elements of the current Zenfone series. However, it features an LED indicator on the back that can display additional information such as text, time, and battery level. The body is also IP68-rated for water and dust resistance, and the computing platform uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite unveiled by Qualcomm. The side of the body also maintains the AirTrigger pressure-sensitive button design.

The overall design is not much different from the ROG Phone 8. It still retains the side connection for charging and the USB-C charging port that can be installed with the Aeroactive Cooler X active cooling accessory. The 3.5mm headphone jack is also retained at the bottom. As for the battery, it still uses a dual-cell architecture design to ensure charging efficiency and the heat dissipation performance of the centrally placed processor.

However, ASUS has not yet revealed the specific specifications of ROG Phone 9, so it has not yet confirmed whether a Pro model will be launched. In addition, specifications such as camera, memory, and battery capacity have not yet been confirmed. The actual selling price and specific launch time have not yet been announced, but in theory, the model will still be equipped with the Android 14 operating system when it is launched, and will not use the Android 15 operating system version for the time being.
