Compared to the previous method of logging in with a personal Facebook account when using the Quest virtual reality headset, Meta announced in an earlier update that it will enable a new Meta account and be able to connect to the Meta Horizon service profile.
This update is naturally related to the demands of many people who do not want to bind their personal Facebook accounts when using the Quest virtual reality headset. At the same time, this adjustment can also prevent Meta from being questioned whether it is profiting from its own Facebook services when developing its metaverse business, and allow users' personal Facebook accounts to be used only for online social interaction.
In the future, Meta expects to more actively promote the new Meta account and Meta Horizon service profile usage model. Existing Quest virtual reality wearable device users will also be notified to complete the transition before January 2023, 1 and log in using the new account.
New Meta accounts can still be logged in through existing Facebook and Instagram accounts, and can also be applied for via email. It is expected that this will serve as the foundation for Meta's layout of the metaverse development in the future.
