Apart from New satellite feature coming to iPhoneBloomberg News also compiled Apple's ambitious product roadmap for 2026, calling it "the most crucial year."
According to a 2026 product roadmap revealed by Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman in his latest "Power On" newsletter, Apple plans a major overhaul of its MacBook Pro product line. The most anticipated addition is a high-end MacBook Pro expected to debut in late 2026 or early 2027, featuring M6 Pro and M6 Max processors, and rumored to be the first to incorporate an OLED display and touchscreen design.
If the M6 Pro/Max processor models do indeed adopt a touchscreen, it signifies a fundamental shift in Apple's strategy, a move likely driven by multiple considerations:
• Responding to market competition: Touchscreen functionality is now standard on high-end Windows laptops, and Apple may face pressure to follow suit.
• macOS Interface Revolution: The macOS version expected to launch in 2026 may be further optimized for touch operation.
• Ecosystem Integration: With Apple Intelligence, iPad apps running on Macs, and increased interaction with visionOS, touch may become one of the more intuitive input methods.
• Product line segmentation:The new design is exclusive to MacBook Pro models with M6 Pro/M6 Max processors.
Apple is expected to launch MacBook Pro models equipped with M5 Pro/M5 Max processors in early 2026 or the first half of the year. These models should still be "evolutionary, not revolutionary" updates that use the existing design.
Then, at the end of 2026, Apple will launch an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with a standard M6 processor, but this entry-level M6 model will not feature a new design.
The rumored "major innovations" such as OLED, touchscreen, and thinner body will be exclusive to the high-end M6 Pro and M6 Max processor models, which will be launched between the end of 2026 and the beginning of 2027. This is clearly Apple's strategy to further widen the specification and price gap between the high-end Pro (M Pro/Max chips) and the entry-level Pro (standard M chips), repeating the product differentiation strategy used between 2016 and 2019, where the high-end MacBook Pro had a Touch Bar, while the entry-level 13-inch model did not.
Early 2026/First Half of the Year:
• M5 MacBook Air
• M5 Pro / M5 Max MacBook Pro
• M5 / M5 Pro Mac mini
• M5 Max / M5 Ultra Mac Studio
End of 2026/Beginning of 2027 (Major Innovation):
• The entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 is expected to launch at the end of 2026, but will not feature a new design.
• The M6 Pro / M6 Max MacBook Pro features an OLED screen, touch support, and a thinner body.
Fall 2026:
• iPhone 18 Pro (may abandon Qualcomm's data chip supply and use Apple's self-developed C1 data chip for the first time)
• The first foldable iPhone
Other new products in 2026:
• OLED iPad mini
• iPhone 17e, A18 iPad (12th generation), M4 iPad Air
• New smart home display (with the new Siri)
• Apple's first smart glasses (preview)
Apple Intelligence: Health+ subscription service integrated with Fitness+
In addition, Mark Gurman also reiterated Apple's AI plans for 2026. With COO Jeff Williams' retirement and Apple Fitness+ being merged into the Health division this October, Apple seems to be paving the way for the launch of a new subscription service called "Health+" in 2026.
Health+ is expected to include a health chatbot, which will act as an AI agent to assist users in monitoring their health. The underperforming Apple Fitness+ service may also be integrated into Health+ to provide a more consistent product mix and increase visibility.
