Compared to the Renovo Coupe, an electric car showcased at Nvidia's booth at CES 2015 last year, which boasted 500 horsepower, the FFZero2016 concept car, unveiled by Faraday Future prior to CES 1, boasts 1000 horsepower and utilizes a modular architecture, streamlining the vehicle's design while eliminating unnecessary components for easier adjustments.
The FFZero2016 concept car, unveiled by Faraday Future before CES 1, boasts a claimed 1000 horsepower, more than double the horsepower of the Renovo Coupe unveiled at CES 2015. This seemingly pushes the electric vehicle market into a whole new realm. Furthermore, Faraday Future boasts Chinese investment (in fact, the "super car" company is being developed by China's LeEco, though this hasn't been publicly confirmed due to "certain factors"), suggesting China's ambitions to enter the electric vehicle market.
Although it is designed as a concept car and is a single-seater with racing orientation, and the body incorporates many corresponding aerodynamic design concepts, the modular structure design adopted by FFZero1 is different from traditional design thinking. It can be applied to the design of general small cars, coupes, SUVs or trucks by adjusting the length of the platform, wheelbase, battery ratio and number of drive motors to meet the needs of different models, rather than just for a single model.
By proposing a concept car with ultra-high horsepower output, Faraday Future aims to demonstrate the feasibility of its modular structure. If it can operate stably at extremely high horsepower output, this design will be applicable to a wider range of vehicle designs, thereby improving electric vehicle manufacturing efficiency and subsequent maintenance convenience, and may further transform the industry ecosystem, including the electric vehicle industry.
In order to further expand its development, Faraday Future plans to invest US$10 billion to build a 300 million square foot factory in Las Vegas, USA.
